Italian Week Opening Ceremonies

You are invited to JOIN US for our annual Italian Week Festival Opening Ceremony!The opening ceremony will feature speeches from the Italian Week Festival President, representatives from the Italian Embassy, as well as and municipal, provincial and federal representatives. After the speeches we will go outside for the raising of the Italian Flag at City Hall and officially launch Italian Week. The Ceremony concludes with a reception.

Yuk Yuk’s Special Comedy Show featuring Joe Machi

Since taking 4th place on Last Comic Standing’s 8th season, Joe Machi has been busy touring the United States as a headlining stand-up comedian. He has performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and has become a regular on Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld on Fox News. Joe also won the 2013 NY Comedy Festival’s Funniest Comedian Competition, and the 2010 NY Underground Comedy Festival's Emerging Comics Competition.

The Art and Passion of Guido Nincheri: An Illustrated Presentation

Italian Canadian Historical Centre

Author Mélanie Grondin, and grandson of the late Artist, Roger Nincheri, present the book "The Art and Passion of Guido Nincheri" and an illustrated presentation of the artist and a few of his works in Ottawa and elsewhere.The presentation will be followed by Q&A session and a book signing. Books will be available for sale at the event.

Beginner Clay Workshop

Introductory class teaching the basics of working with polymer clay while creating unique pieces of art. In this workshop, you will learn about facial anatomy and how to create a recognizable relief portrait of your subject. Maria Saracino will sculpt right alongside you, taking you through the steps to create a whimsical high relief portrait sculpture.

Italian Documentary Screening: “Three Portraits” & “The Fiancée

Ottawa Italian Week presents a screening of two short documentaries: "Three Portraits of Italomontrealesi of Yesterday and Today" and "The Fiancée". Documentaries are in Italian and French, with English subtitles. The screenings will be followed by a discussion with the three filmmakers.
